About

A career built on continuous learning

Bimal Sigdel is a teacher, educational leader, and school principal based in Nepal, with experience spanning both the private and government education sectors. His career began in 2058 B.S. at Satyawati Secondary School, and has since carried him through classroom teaching, school leadership, and university-level instruction — a path he describes, in his own writing, as moving from lessons "read from the dust" to classrooms built around smartboards and structured ICT practice.

His academic path reflects the same restlessness for learning that defines his teaching. Alongside a Bachelor of Business Studies and a Bachelor of Education, he went on to complete a Master of Business Studies, a Master of Education at Kathmandu University, and most recently a Master of Philosophy in Education — also at Kathmandu University — with research focused on the Letter Grading System.

He has taught at Meshram Baraha Mavi in Ghandruk and at Nirmal Secondary School in Damauli, Tanahun, where he rose from teacher to assistant headmaster to principal. Alongside his work at Nirmal Secondary School — where he now serves as principal, overseeing and teaching across both the school's secondary and higher secondary (+2) blocks — he continues to teach as an assistant professor at Aadikavi Bhanubhakta Campus, Damauli. Across each role, his work has centered on educational leadership and management, mathematics, and the practical integration of ICT into everyday teaching and learning.

My Approach to Education

Teaching as leadership, learning as lifelong

The following is a professional interpretation of Bimal Sigdel's educational philosophy, drawn from the themes of his career and writing — not a direct quotation.

Education, in this view, is a tool for both personal and social development — a process that should adapt as the world around it changes. Teachers grow through continuous professional development, students learn best when placed at the center of the process, and technology, used thoughtfully, is a means of making that learning more active and more connected to real life.

Responsible leadership means bringing teachers and students along together: building their comfort with new tools, not just installing the tools themselves.

Use of ICT in Teaching-Learning Activities in Model Community Schools of Vyas Municipality: An Interpretive Study

International Journal for Multidisciplinary Research (IJFMR), Vol. 5, Issue 5 · Sept–Oct 2023 · E-ISSN 2582-2160

An interpretive study examining how two model community schools in Vyas Municipality, Tanahun, use ICT in teaching and learning. Drawing on interviews with teachers and students, the paper finds that while government grants keep these schools financially equipped for ICT, uneven digital literacy among teachers, frequent power cuts, and financial hardship for lower-income students remain the central obstacles — even as ICT use is shown to raise motivation for both groups.
